No one wants to be “insecure”.
But how do we detect it? How do we see it in ourselves?
I find that it is hard to detect insecurity in me. Actually, I find out the hard way (when someone corrects me!) Or when my securities are stripped away all of the sudden.
How does one see their insecurities before this happens?
I had this revelation this past weekend which the Lord was stirring in me.
This is what he spoke to me:
When I’m insecure, I’ll be tempted to boast in my abilities.
When I’m secure, I boast in His love.
This makes so much sense.
The evidence of my insecurity is when I lean into my own greatness.
It’s when I talk about how strong I am.
When I talk about my gifts.
When I lean into my wealth.
When I boast about my accomplishments.
However, I know I’m secure when I stop talking about myself.
When I just talk about God’s love and grace in my life–that’s when I’m secure.
When it’s about Him in everyday conversations.
When I give glory and thanks for any good thing that comes my way.
As a leader, however, it’s easy to hide my insecurities behind things.
But this is a great and easy litmus test for me to discover my insecurities.
You were made for goodness,
Phil
That’s a powerful call-out, dude.
Usually in business, when trying to attract potential clients, the temptation is to boast about our abilities.
Nothing wrong with it, but is there a better set of talking points where we can attract clients but in a godly way?
