This past Saturday, I invited around 60 friends here in Pasadena to celebrate the launch of Rhythms of Resilience.
It was one of my favorite days in my life.
The thing I was most impressed by wasn’t, however, what I anticipated. It wasn’t the buzz around the book, the amazing tacos, or even the fact that I wrote a book. As I saw all the faces of the people who arrived, I was so humbled and in awe by the people God placed around my life.
The great lie we live in the Western world is hyper-individualism. Success and all that God wants to do through us is not a product of “me pulling myself by my boots.”
Rather, we are woven in a tapestry of God’s people. We are, in some shape or form, dependent on the myriad of people around us. As I saw people, I was reminded of every conversation I had about the book. I was reminded of every time someone put their hand on my shoulder and said, “Keep going Phil”. I was reminded of how my life group supported me this season. I was reminded of even friends from seasons past who shaped me into the man who wrote this book.
So with that being said… I wanted to say THANK YOU!
Thank you if you’re reading this. Every time you open one of these letters, liked a post, left me a comment. Your words have encouraged me.
The feedback about the book has been phenomenal so far. People are really treasuring the words. The common sentiment I feel is, “Where was this book 2 years ago??” I’m sorry it took so long! But it took 2 years to grow into becoming the man necessary to write something like this.
Thank you again. If you happen to snag a copy, let me know how the message resonates with you. Here is the link to buy it if you haven’t!
You were made for greatness,
Phil
P.s because quite a bit of people have requested it, I’m going to be releasing my personal material on my year-end summit with my wife to help remember our 2022 and shape our 2023 for God’s glory. Let me know if that would be interesting to you!
I'm so proud of you, Phil.
I write as well, and know how the process is riddled with overwhelm, distraction, Imposter Syndrome, writers block, and the thousands of other speed bumps.
Two years may have passed, but God's timing is better than ours; and I'm certain it's because He was preparing even better insights (and it reflects from the early fanfare!).
I'm so blessed to have you in my life - through our conversations, through your writing, and soon through your book that's in transit, and more friendship to build!
CONGRATS CONGRATS!
