What happens when you get rich?
I find that a lot of people think to themselves or talk out loud: "if I just had X amount of money, my life would be set."
Let me tell you something: It never happens that way.
People are generally really unsatisfied.
I have heard and know stories of people who are really wealthy who end up getting a lot of money, and they are left with a haunting question:
"Now what?"
They asked that because now that they had reached their goals, they didn't know what to do with their lives.
Then they realized they'd been playing the wrong game.
Money without purpose is a distraction.
A poor person with a purpose is richer than a wealthy person without
I think this is one of the reasons why Jesus says that it's harder for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.
It's because when people get a lot of money, they lose their sense of purpose, and money ends up drowning them and becoming their God. And they end up not following God.
It is good to have wealth. It definitely solves some problems, but it becomes a problem when it moves us from our assignment from God.
For me, what’s helped me is to think about purpose as a pipe. And Money like water.
My purpose (aka infrastructure) should always exceed the amount of water coming in; otherwise, I’m going to get flooded.
What do you think about the relationship between money and purpose?
Let me know in the comments.
You were made for greatness.

Some people are so poor, that all they have is money.
Money is like gas in a car. Sure, it’s useful to have. But we’re not going on a tour of gas stations.
Not sure who said these things lol but agreed with your message, brother!
Hey Phil!! I really appreciate your writings. Thank you for being an example and inspiration in following Jesus. I wish I could encourage you more.
